What is the uv flexo cold stamp foil glue process?
cold stamp foil process refers to preprinting UV curable adhesive first, and then transferring the cold ironing foil to the substrate to be hot stamped. The basic configuration of the device is:
- Printing machine (flexographic, offset and relief printing)
- Foil unit
- Unwinding device
- Rewind device
- UV curing unit
Cold stamp process (take flexographic printing as an example)
UV glue can be applied through flexographic printing or offset printing. In the above two methods, UV glue is first coated on the substrate, then covered with cold stamping foil, UV curing is carried out before stripping, and finally stripping is carried out.
The advantages of cold stamp foil process are as follows:
* Low investment cost - no hot stamping experience and special hot stamping equipment, templates, hot stamping tools or gaskets
* Flexible, efficient and economical - especially suitable for small batch production
* Low cost and high efficiency - standard printed boards can be used
＊ High speed, effective - the production speed can reach 120 meters per minute
* It can be used on thin, soft or heat sensitive packaging materials - such as hot shrink film hot stamping, etc
＊ Printing and hot stamping are completed online at one time - easy to control the printing accuracy
＊ Break through the tradition and bring a vivid three-dimensional effect - it can create a metal color penumbra tone gradual change effect
There are many kinds of glue on the market. You must carefully test and choose the glue that suits you. The manufacturer's product specification sheet should indicate whether their products are suitable for free radical UV curing ink coating, and whether they can be used for solvent based or water-based inks.
＊ Type of base material that can be cold stamp
In fact, all materials that can be printed on a flexographic press, such as PP, PE and non absorbent paper, can be cold stamp. If there is a problem with adhesion, it can be solved with the glue supplier. In general, printing after corona treatment will have a better effect.
＊ Ink roller - average glue amount
According to different patterns, select the correct number of ink rollers. We do not recommend applying UV glue directly on the rough and untreated material surface, but apply the primer first.
＊ Foil covering unit
We suggest that after the UV glue is applied, the cold stamp foil should be covered with a silicon rubber roller of appropriate hardness, and the tension of the feeding/winding unit should be appropriate to prevent wrinkling. If the hardness of the press roll is too low, the transfer effect of the cold ironing foil will be poor. The roll shaft of the foil covering unit must be completely clean and dust-free. The proper pressure of the foil covering unit is essential to avoid bubbles, which may cause poor transfer effect.
* Applicable UV lamp
If mercury lamp with medium or high voltage is used for UV curing, the power of the lamp should be adjustable according to the operating speed.
＊ Distance requirements between glue coating, cold stamp, UV lamp curing and stripping processes
To avoid wrinkling, the shorter the distance between processes, the better. There shall be no idler wheel between the foil covering and the stripping unit. In general structure, the distance from glue coating to peeling process shall not exceed 1m at most. The processing speed is generally 45-120 meters per minute.

Food and medicine: shampoo label, toothpaste outer box
Cosmetics: lipstick, cream, cosmetic box
